Steering Committee reviews high-level design of IEP

ISLAMABAD, Feb 25 (APP): The Steering Committee on the Integrated Energy Plan (IEP) held its first meeting to finalize the high-level design of the country’s comprehensive energy road-map, marking a significant step toward shaping Pakistan’s long-term energy strategy.
The meeting was jointly chaired by Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari and Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Energy (Power Division).
During the meeting, detailed deliberations and consultations were held on the structure and overall framework of the Integrated Energy Plan. The high-level design prepared by the Power Division was presented to the Steering Committee for discussion and feedback.
Participants emphasized that effective coordination among various energy sectors and departments would be a fundamental component of the IEP’s high-level design. The committee underscored the need for an integrated and cohesive approach to ensure long-term sustainability, efficiency and strategic planning across the energy landscape.
The Steering Committee described the proposed high-level design as the foundation of Pakistan’s long-term energy policy, aimed at addressing future energy demands through improved planning and inter-sectoral linkages.
Following the Steering Committee’s endorsement, the high-level design of the IEP would be forwarded to the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE) for approval. After clearance from the CCoE, the plan would be submitted to the federal cabinet for final approval.
The Integrated Energy Plan is expected to receive final approval in 2027.
