Magnitude 5.6 Earthquake Jolts Northern Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Feb 25 (APP): A moderate earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck the region on Wednesday at 4:12 PM (PST), according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The earthquake originated in the Hindu Kush Region, Afghanistan, with a depth of 114 kilometers.
The epicenter was located at 36.99°N latitude and 71.41°E longitude.
Tremors were felt in several parts of northern Pakistan, including Islamabad, Peshawar, Swat, and Chitral, among other surrounding areas.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. Authorities continue to monitor the situation.
The Hindu Kush region is known for frequent seismic activity due to tectonic plate movements, and deep-focus earthquakes are common in this area.
