ISLAMABAD, Feb 25 (APP): Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Pakistan, Robert-Jan Siegert, met Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi, to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral relations and promoting interfaith dialogue.
Dr. Naeemi voiced concern over the recent surge in terrorism, stressing that Islam is a religion of peace, justice, mercy, and human dignity. He underlined that Pakistanis are inherently peace-loving and reaffirmed the CII’s constitutional role in guiding the legislature in accordance with national principles. “The core teachings of Islam are centered on brotherhood and human dignity, which stand in direct opposition to acts of violence,” he said.

Ambassador Siegert praised the CII’s advisory role in fostering social cohesion and highlighted the contribution of Islam and other faiths in advancing tolerance and interfaith harmony. He noted that Dutch society has undergone significant transformation over the past three decades, becoming more diverse, with civil society playing an active role in countering discrimination.

Both sides reaffirmed the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation and promoting dialogue among religions to build mutual understanding and global peace.
