Court rejects physical remand, sends PTI activist to jail on judicial remand

ISLAMABAD, Feb 25 (APP): The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Wednesday ordered the transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) social media activist Haider Saeed to jail on judicial remand after rejecting a request for his physical custody.
The case relates to a post shared on social media about the release of the PTI founder and calls for protest.
The matter was heard by Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah.
During the hearing, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) sought an eight-day physical remand of the accused. The court declined the request and directed that Haider Saeed be sent to jail on judicial remand.
Defense lawyers Sardar Muhammad Masroof, Murtaza Toori, and Zahid Bashir Dar appeared on behalf of the accused and opposed the remand plea.
According to case records, the FIR against Haider Saeed was registered in August 2025. The complaint stated that a tweet posted by the accused regarding the release of the PTI founder and related protest activity led to the registration of the case. The court adjourned further proceedings as the accused was moved to jail custody.
