CM approves ‘One Punjab, One Standard’ policy for province-wide infrastructure uniformity

LAHORE, Feb 25 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the landmark “One Punjab, One Standard” policy, paving the way for province-wide infrastructure and design standardisation for the first time in Punjab’s history.
Chairing a special meeting here on Wednesday, the chief minister reviewed proposals regarding the establishment of an autonomous authority to oversee standardisation and urban design. An in-principle decision was taken to create a dedicated standardisation and design unit to ensure uniformity in infrastructure development across the province.
She directed the authorities concerned to prepare a comprehensive standardised design manual to guide future development projects. The meeting also deliberated on introducing uniform designs for roadside kiosks and small shop cabins to improve urban aesthetics and eliminate visual clutter.
It was decided that consistent standards would be implemented for roads, green belts, signboards and footpaths throughout Punjab. Officials gave a detailed briefing on infrastructure standardisation, informing the meeting that standard designs would also be introduced for schools, hospitals, bus stops and other public buildings.
CM Maryam Nawaz said the initiative aims to make every city in Punjab attractive, organised and aesthetically appealing. She noted that uniform infrastructure and road furniture designs would not only enhance the visual appeal of urban centres but also strengthen their identity and improve overall civic management.
The chief minister stressed that the “One Punjab, One Standard” policy reflects the government’s commitment to planned development and modern urban governance across the province.
