PESHAWAR, Feb 25 (APP): A joint operation by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority and the district administration was carried out in Matta, Swat, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of substandard and expired food items.
According to officials, the inspection teams confiscated more than 350 litres of expired beverages and 50 kilograms of substandard minced meat during checks of food outlets and retail points in the area.
The seized items were taken into custody for safe disposal in accordance with food safety regulations.
Officials said the operation was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the availability of safe and hygienic food for consumers and to curb the sale of adulterated and expired products.
Legal action was also initiated against those found violating food safety laws.
The Food Safety Authority and district administration reiterated their commitment to continuing such operations across Swat to protect public health and warned food business operators to strictly comply with established standards.
