MURREE, Feb 24 (APP):Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister for Price Control and Magistrate Salma Butt on Tuesday conducted a special visit to Murree to review market monitoring and ongoing price control measures during the holy month of Ramazan.
Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi gave her a detailed briefing on the overall administrative situation, price control measures, and ongoing enforcement actions, noting that a formal monitoring system had been activated to regulate prices of essential commodities.
During the visit, Salma Butt chaired a meeting on price control at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. The session reviewed strategies to control prices, eliminate hoarding, prevent overcharging, and provide relief to the public. Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Murree, Additional Deputy
Commissioner General Murree, Assistant Commissioner Murree, and all price control magistrates of the district attended, while Assistant Commissioner Kotli Sattian participated via video link.
Officers and magistrates presented performance reports and updated the special assistant on actions taken so far.
Salma Butt directed that daily market inspections be strengthened during Ramazan and that strict and impartial action be taken against profiteering. She emphasised that shopkeepers failing to display rate lists prominently should face legal action and that no leniency be shown to those involved in hoarding.
She said the Punjab Government was committed to providing maximum relief to the public during Ramazan and would not tolerate overpricing or stockpiling at any level.
Following the meeting, Salma Butt visited markets in Jheka Gali, Sunny Bank, and Lari Adda to review prices, cleanliness, availability of rate lists, and essential commodities. She instructed on-site officials to implement a zero-tolerance policy against violators and ensure prompt redressal of public complaints.
At the conclusion of the visit, the special assistant expressed satisfaction with the district administration’s performance and directed that price control systems be further strengthened to protect citizens from inflationary pressures during Ramazan. The administration reaffirmed its commitment to continue impartial enforcement against overpricing and hoarding in line with government policy.
