Ministry of Religious, Ministry of IT sign MoU to digitize Hajj process

ISLAMABAD, Feb 24 (APP):The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony and the Ministry of In0formation Technology and Telecommunication on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to digitize the Hajj process.
The initiative aimed to improve transparency, efficiency and service delivery for pilgrims.The ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf and IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, along with senior officials.
The MoU was signed by Joint Secretary (Hajj) Muhammad Bakhsh Sangi and Director General of the National Information Technology Board, Dr Khalid Rafiq.
Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said the move, in line with the Prime Minister’s directives, will make the Hajj process more transparent and convenient.
He said a comprehensive digital system will reduce delays and minimize human errors, helping Pakistan meet international service standards.
Shaza Fatima Khawaja on the occasion said that from next year, an end-to-end digital system will be introduced — from Hajj application to pilgrims’ return home.
A simple and user-friendly online Hajj portal will be launched for applicants she said. According to the MoU, the Pak Hajj mobile app will also be upgraded to improve accessibility and usability.  The digital portal will strengthen coordination among stakeholders and ensure compliance with Saudi timelines.
