RWMC launches division-wide anti-littering drive under Clean Punjab Programme

RAWALPINDI, Feb 24 (APP):The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has stepped up its anti-littering awareness campaign under the Clean Punjab Programme launched by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
As part of the drive, RWMC’s communication team conducted a door-to-door and market awareness campaign along Asghar Mall Road, informing citizens and shopkeepers about littering fines and distributing pamphlets outlining cleanliness laws. The team also explained the procedure for lodging complaints and made announcements in markets, streets and Masajids to underscore the importance of maintaining cleanliness.
Residents were urged to dispose of waste at designated points and cooperate with the company in keeping the city clean.
The RWMC spokesman said the campaign was not confined to Rawalpindi city but was being carried out across all 22 tehsils of Rawalpindi Division, with administrative support to enhance outreach.
An anti-littering awareness walk will be organised across the division on Wednesday in collaboration with the district and tehsil administrations. On Thursday, a special campaign will be launched in schools, featuring awareness walks, classroom lectures and symbolic waste-picking activities to instil cleanliness habits among students.
Chief Executive Officer of RWMC, Rana Sajid Safdar, said the Clean Punjab Programme was a transformative initiative of the Chief Minister aimed at improving sanitation across the province and fostering civic responsibility among the public.
He said enforcement of anti-littering laws was being ensured and fines imposed where violations occurred, but emphasised that awareness remained the primary focus. He appealed to citizens, traders, students and civil society to play their part in making Rawalpindi clean, green and attractive.
