ISLAMABAD, Feb 24 (APP): A lower court on Tuesday accepted pre-arrest bails of PTI founder in six cases and Bushra Bibi’s bail in one case.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal heard the bail cases of PTI founder and Bushra Bibi. During the hearing, Raja Naveed Hussain Kayani, Mazhar Bashir and Tahir Kazim appeared in the court on behalf of the prosecution, while Barrister Salman Safdar appeared in the court on behalf of the founder of PTI and Bushra Bibi.
Barrister Salman Safdar said that 63 adjournments were given to the prosecution in this case. On 30 such occasions, the court ordered the jail authorities to produce the case but it was not produced. Show cause notices were issued to the superintendent of the jail 5 times.
He said that he will seek bails from the court on merit, not on medical grounds. No application for pre-arrest bail of the founder of PTI has ever been rejected except for May 9, he said. He argued that on August 5, 2023, the founder of PTI was arrested in the Election Commission case. No investigation was conducted in any case, no challan was issued.
The court asked the prosecution whether the receipt of the Toshakhana was recovered. The prosecution said that the receipt was not recovered, it was fake. They kept waving the fake receipts in the media.
The court asked if they kept waving them in the media, then did they get their forensics done?
After the parties completed their arguments, the court granted bail to the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi in exchange for bonds worth fifty thousand rupees each.
Cases of May 9, Azadi March, attempted murder, vandalism, arson, siege and fake receipts of Toshakhana have been registered against the PTI founder, while a case of fake receipts of Toshakhana has also been registered against Bushra Bibi in Kohsar police station.
