KOHAT, Feb 24 (APP):In a brutal and cowardly attack, unidentified gunmen targeted a police mobile on Shakardara Road in Kohat on Tuesday, resulting in the martyrdom of seven officers, including a senior official, and injuries to four others. The assault unfolded suddenly and violently, sending shockwaves across the district.
According to police sources, the attackers struck with calculated precision, thereby inflicting one of the deadliest blows to local law enforcement in recent months.
The fallen officers have been identified as DSP Asad Mahmood, Anar Gul, Syed Aamir Abbas, Wahab Ali, Mudasir, Yousaf Khan, and Samiullah. The injured — Zahoor, Uqab Hussain, Ahmed Abbas, and Mohib-ur-Rehman — were promptly shifted to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving medical care. Meanwhile, officials confirmed that the condition of the wounded is being closely monitored. The loss of the personnel has been described as a profound tragedy for the force and the wider community.
Immediately after the attack, law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched a comprehensive search operation to track down the perpetrators. Furthermore, security has been tightened across Kohat to prevent any further incidents. Authorities strongly condemned the assault, terming it a heinous act aimed at destabilising peace in the region. However, they vowed that those responsible would be brought to justice.
Funeral prayers for the martyrs will be offered later today, as senior police and district administration officials are expected to attend in solidarity. The atmosphere in Kohat remains somber, while tributes continue to pour in from across the province. The officers, remembered for their steadfast commitment and selfless service, laid down their lives in the line of duty — a sacrifice that will be honoured forever.
