DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Feb 24 (APP): Commissioner Dera Dawood Khan formally inaugurated the spring tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling in the premises of his office, marking dawn of the new season with a renewed commitment to environmental protection.
The ceremony was attended by Assistant to Commissioner (Political and Development) Sajjad Baloch, along with officials and staff of the Forest Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Dawood Khan said that spring symbolizes renewal and hope, and planting trees is an investment in a safer and healthier future for coming generations.
He emphasized that in view of growing environmental pollution and climate change challenges, large-scale tree plantation has become the need of the hour.
He further noted that planting trees in government offices, educational institutions, and public spaces not only improves the environment but also promotes awareness about cleanliness and beautification among citizens.
He urged upon the citizens to plant at least one tree and take responsibility for its proper care.
During the ceremony, members of the office staff also planted various types of saplings and pledged to ensure their regular maintenance.
The commissioner directed the relevant departments to closely monitor the ongoing plantation drive across the city to maximize tree plantation efforts.
The event concluded with a special prayer for the country’s progress, prosperity, and a greener Pakistan.
