PESHAWAR, Feb 24 (APP):Capital City Police Peshawar has further intensified search-and-strike operations across the district to maintain
overall law and order and eliminate criminal elements.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, during the first two months and 23 days of the current year, police conducted 291 targeted search-and-strike operations across Peshawar. During these operations, 6,873 houses, 270 hotels and 77 inns were thoroughly checked, resulting in the registration of 718 cases.
As a result of these operations, 934 suspects involved in various criminal activities were arrested. Police also apprehended 109 proclaimed offenders wanted in serious cases, while 871 suspicious individuals were taken
into custody for verification.
The crackdown led to legal action against 702 unregistered tenants, while 24 illegally residing Afghan nationals were proceeded against in accordance with the law.
During the operations, police arrested 270 criminals and recovered a large quantity of illegal weapons and ammunition from their possession.
In actions against narcotics, police arrested 230 alleged drug dealers and recovered 32 kilograms of ice (crystal meth), 105 kilograms of hashish, 8 kilograms of opium, and 2 kilograms of heroin.
The Capital City Police stated that the primary objective of the search-and-strike operations is to ensure the protection of life and property of citizens and to maintain peace and stability throughout the district at all costs.
