ISLAMABAD, Feb 24 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police tightened their grip on organised crime by arresting 11 accused, including a murder suspect and members of three organised criminal gangs, while recovering stolen cash and valuables worth over Rs 32 million.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq, flanked by SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza and SSP Investigation Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt, said the arrests were made during successful operations carried out by the Robbery and Dacoity Unit (RDU).
He said ICT Police achieved major breakthroughs in serious cases, including a bank dacoity, an organised robbery gang, a blind murder, and a house theft network.
Regarding the bank dacoity case, the DIG said a robbery incident occurred at a private bank in Blue Area within the limits of Kohsar Police Station on February 16, 2026. The case was promptly registered, and a special police team traced the organised gang within a short span of time using modern technical tools, CCTV footage, and human intelligence.
He said four accused, including the gang leader, were arrested from Peshawar and Karak. During the investigation, it was revealed that the mastermind behind the dacoity was Ziaullah, while the bank’s security guard, Abdul Rehman, acted as a facilitator.
Police recovered Rs 3 million in cash, three pistols, and the motorcycle used in the crime. The arrested accused were identified as Zarain, Abdul Malik, Ziaullah, and Abdul Rehman.
Highlighting another major success, Muhammad Jawad Tariq said Loha Bher Police, under the supervision of SSP Investigation Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt, arrested members of an organised TCS gang involved in robbery-cum-theft incidents.
He said the gang used bogus and illegal SIM cards obtained from unauthorised vendors and impersonated courier representatives to deceive citizens. The accused would call victims under the pretext of parcel delivery and, upon gaining access, hold families hostage at gunpoint.
Police recovered cash, foreign currency, gold ornaments, mobile phones, watches, and other valuables worth over Rs 17.3 million from the accused. The arrested suspects were identified as Muneeb Sohail, Muhammad Fahim, and Iftikhar Ahmed.
In a blind murder case, the DIG said ICT Police successfully traced and arrested the accused involved in a murder reported within the limits of Kirpa Police Station.
Police recovered a vehicle containing the body of a man later identified as Hameed Khan. Using technical evidence and CCTV footage, police arrested the accused, Adnan Shaukat.
He said the investigation revealed that the murder stemmed from a property dispute. The accused lured the victim to a deserted plot and shot him inside the vehicle.
Separately, the DIG said the Robbery and Dacoity Unit (RDU) also arrested three members of a previously recorded organised Kabari gang involved in multiple house theft incidents.
Police recovered stolen cash, foreign currency, mobile phones, watches, gold ornaments, and weapons with ammunition worth over Rs 11.5 million. The arrested accused were identified as Sadder, Abdul Rehman, and Abdullah.
DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq said Islamabad Police, with the help of Safe City cameras, modern surveillance systems, and human intelligence, were continuing indiscriminate operations against criminal elements.
He said the ongoing crackdown had resulted in a noticeable reduction in robberies and other serious crimes in the federal capital.
SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza said ICT Police remained committed to ensuring the safety of citizens and maintaining law and order.
SSP Investigation Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt said merit-based investigations, effective prosecution, and modern policing techniques were being prioritised to secure convictions.
