IHC reserves verdict regarding lease of Grand Hyatt building’s land

ISLAMABAD, Feb 24 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday reserved the verdict after hearing of respondents’ arguments in a case related to lease cancellation of multi-story building of Grand Hyatt located in the Red Zone.
Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar heard the case and reserved verdict.
During the hearing, lawyer Kashif Malik Advocate appeared in the court on behalf of the CDA and took the position that despite the passage of twenty-one years, payments could not be paid. The decision of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar regarding the same case has not been issued yet, it said.
The lawyer said that the BNP has deprived the city of the facility of a five-star hotel by building residential apartments in place of a five-star hotel. What, even after the conditional decision of the Supreme Court, BNP failed to make the payment. The BNP had mentioned to the CDA in 2022 about its non-payment on its part, in return for which it had offered to provide commercial areas in the same project.
He told the court that till today, BNP has paid 2.9 billion out of 17.5 billion, while about 240 apartments and commercial areas have been sold to third parties.
The court reserved its decision regarding the cancellation of the lease after hearing the arguments of the parties.
