Strict action announced against commercial buildings without fire safety compliance

BAHAWALPUR, Feb 24 (APP): The installation of fire hydrants in densely populated and commercial areas is progressing rapidly to enhance public safety and emergency preparedness.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza warned that strict legal action will be taken after February 28 against commercial centers and buildings that have been issued notices for fire hydrant installation but have failed to comply. Non-compliant premises will be sealed without discrimination.
The deputy commissioner chaired a meeting of the District Emergency Board at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, where ongoing emergency measures, fire safety arrangements, and preparedness for potential emergencies across the district were comprehensively reviewed.
District Emergency Officer Baqar Hussain and representatives of relevant departments attended the meeting, while Assistant Commissioners of all tehsils and chief officers of municipal corporations and committees participated via video link.
During the briefing, it was informed that a total of 33 fire hydrants are currently functional across the district. Of these, 10 were previously installed, while 23 new hydrants have been added during the recent campaign.
