SARGODHA, Feb 24 (APP):The Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority Force (PERA) and Price Control Magistrates intensified field operations to monitor prices and ensure availability of essential commodities at fixed rates during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to official data released by the district administration on Tuesday, the price control magistrates and PERA Force teams had conducted a total of 6,019 inspections across the district since the first of Ramazan.
During these operations, the magistrates imposed collective fines amounting to Rs 247,000 on various shopkeepers for violating the Price Control Act and overcharging consumers.
Furthermore, 29 shopkeepers were arrested for non-compliance with official price lists and profiteering.
