20kg gold fraud: Court sends accused to jail on 14-day judicial remand

LAHORE, Feb 23 (APP): A court at Model Town Kacheri on Monday sent the accused, involved in 20-kg gold fraud case, to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
Police produced the accused, Waseem Akhtar, before the court after the completion of his five-day physical remand. The investigating officer informed the court that the investigation had been completed and no further physical remand was required, requesting that the accused be sent to jail on judicial remand.
The court was told that approximately two kilograms of gold and Rs 26.7 million had been recovered from the accused so far. On behalf of the complainant, Advocate Faisal Bajwa appeared before the court.
Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Saeed approved the 14-day judicial remand and ordered that the accused be sent to jail.
Ichhra Police Station has registered multiple cases on complaints filed by several affected shopkeepers. The accused had allegedly taken gold from various traders as a trust deposit and later fled after taking around 20 kilograms of gold. Police said the accused was arrested with the help of mobile phone location tracking.
