Commissioner emphasizes efforts to address Quetta traffic woes ahead of Ramazan

QUETTA, Feb 23 (APP):Commissioner Quetta Division Shahzaib Khan Kakar emphasized for efforts to address the growing traffic challenges in the provincial capital and to devise measures aimed at facilitating the public during the holy month of Ramazan.
A high-level meeting chaired by Shahzeb Khan Kakar, Commissioner of Quetta Division, was held on Monday which was attended by Deputy Commissioner Quetta Mehrullah Badini, SSP Traffic Mirza Bilal Hassan, Assistant Commissioner (Political) Quetta Division Syed Kaleemullah, President of Anjuman-e-Tajiran Rahim Kakar, General Secretary Yaseen Mengal, and officials from the Metropolitan Corporation.
Participants reviewed a range of proposals focused on improving traffic flow across the city, particularly during Ramazan when markets witness a surge in shoppers.
To ease congestion and provide convenience to both traders and citizens, it was decided that parking would be permitted on designated no-parking roads after 6:00 p.m. throughout Ramazan. The move is expected to facilitate smoother shopping activities during peak evening hours.
The meeting also discussed various proposals concerning parking restrictions on Abdul Sattar Road. In addition, authorities decided to launch an operation in Liaquat Bazaar to address traffic disruptions caused by roadside carts, which have long contributed to congestion in the busy commercial area.
Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Shahzaib Kakar emphasized that traffic congestion has become a major issue in Quetta and called for effective and practical measures to improve mobility across the city. He stressed the need to strike a balance between ensuring smooth traffic flow, providing relief to residents, and supporting business activities.
The commissioner directed all relevant departments to strictly implement a special traffic management plan during Ramazan to ensure maximum relief for the public and to maintain order in key commercial zones.
Officials expressed confidence that the coordinated efforts of the district administration, traffic police, and traders’ representatives would help mitigate congestion and enhance public convenience during the holy month.
