ISLAMABAD, Feb 23 (APP): Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Monday visited the Ramzan Sahulat Bazaar set up in Sector H-9 to review arrangements for the provision of essential commodities at subsidised rates.
Accompanied by senior officials, including CDA Member Administration Talat Mehmood and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, the chairman inspected the availability, pricing and quality of essential food items.
He also interacted with citizens present at the bazaar, who expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and rates.
Officials informed the chairman that seven Ramazan bazaars had been established across Islamabad to facilitate residents during the holy month.
They said essential items were being sold at government-fixed prices and that daily monitoring was being carried out to ensure compliance. The briefing further noted that digital payment and cashless systems had been introduced at the bazaars in line with the government’s policy vision.
The initiative, officials said, was aligned with the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Randhawa directed assistant commissioners and price control magistrates to ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential items at official rates and to remain present in both Ramazan bazaars and general markets to address public complaints.
He also instructed officials to prominently display official rate lists, helpline and WhatsApp numbers for consumers’ convenience. Emphasizing coordination among relevant departments, the chairman called for effective arrangements regarding cleanliness, security and parking.
He warned that strict action would be taken against profiteers and hoarders. He said the measures were aimed at providing maximum relief to residents of the federal capital during Ramazan.
