LAHORE, Feb 23 (APP): Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem on Monday continued his series of direct engagement with citizens by speaking to them over the phone at the 1787 Complaint Center and reviewing requests and complaints received from across the province.
The IGP inquired from citizens about police actions, the quality of investigations, conduct of officials, and progress on their requests, issuing immediate instructions to concerned officers for prompt redressal.
The spokesperson said that in response to a complaint from a citizen of Chakwal regarding delay in case registration, the IGP directed DPO Chakwal to contact the applicant immediately and take necessary action. Regarding a complaint from Faisalabad about non-registration of an FIR, CPO Faisalabad was instructed to register the FIR without delay. Similarly, a citizen of Khanewal who raised concerns about substandard investigation was contacted immediately after directions from the IGP.
Abdul Kareem emphasised that RPOs and DPOs must contact citizens daily to collect feedback on actions taken regarding their requests. He reiterated that unnecessary delays in FIR registration, weak investigations, and misconduct toward citizens would invite strict departmental action without exception. He also stressed that all complaints received through the CM Complaint Management System, PM Portal, 1787 helpline, and other channels must be resolved promptly according to prescribed timelines and SOPs.
The IGP appealed to citizens to register complaints at the 1787 Complaint Center in cases of any irregularity or misconduct by police personnel to ensure timely action. Additional IG IAB Imran Mehmood, AIG Inspection Shaista Nadeem, and other senior officers were also present.
