IHC reserves verdict in plea regarding regularization of NCCIA’s employees

ISLAMABAD, Feb 23 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday reserved its verdict on a petition regarding the regularization of hundreds of contract employees of National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard the case filed by the employees of NCCIA.
During the course of proceeding, the court asked that why the permanent appointments are not being made?
Justice Kayani said that these petitioners are citizens and they are also citizens, whom is the government hiring.
He remarked that this is unfair that a servant is hired on a job, after five or ten years of service, he is dismissed on a thirty-day notice.
Justice Kayani asked that why the same employees are not being made permanent as they have no sufficient work experience.
He remarked that they are not making service laws. In every case, rules are made in eight to ten months after the court order.
The Assistant Attorney General took the stance that the NCCIA has to draft the service rules and they are working on it. Assistant Attorney General said that these employees are still working today and are getting their salaries.
Petitioners’ lawyer said that the employees were recruited in 2018, then the contract kept getting extended and it was last extended on August 31, 2023.
The  lawyer said that in January 2023, permission was sought from the government for permanent recruitment on 402 different posts.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani said that due to the lack of rules, these employees will now work in the same way, they cannot even be included in the DPC.
Assistant Attorney General said that there are no rules, how can they be made permanent. He prayed the court to grant time for submission of written comments on next hearing.
The court reserved the verdict and adjourned hearing.
