ISLAMABAD, Feb 23 (APP):The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a bearish trend on Monday, losing 5,478.63 points, a negative change of 3.16 percent, to close at 167,691.08 points compared to 173,169.71 points on the previous trading day, according to PSX data.
During the session, the ready market recorded a trading volume of 461,264,025 shares with a traded value of Rs 24.935 billion, against 537,645,825 shares valuing Rs 23.790 billion in the previous session. Market capitalization decreased to Rs 18.971 trillion from Rs 19.602 trillion a day earlier.
Out of 479 active companies in the ready market, 42 advanced, 389 declined, and 48 remained unchanged.
K-Electric Limited topped the volume chart with 36,062,769 shares, followed by WorldCall Telecom with 33,673,161 shares and Bank of Punjab with 26,673,106 shares.
The top gainers included S.S.Oil Mills Limited, which rose by Rs 51.24 to close at Rs 563.62, and Pakistan Engineering Company Limited, which gained Rs 22.10 to settle at Rs 617.45.
On the losing side, PIA Holding Company Limited declined by Rs 361.50 to close at Rs 16,495.50, while Sapphire Textile Mills Limited fell by Rs 134.19 to close at Rs 1,239.00.
In the futures market, turnover stood at 190,560,500 shares with a traded value of Rs 10.422 billion, compared to 166,023,500 shares worth Rs 7.118 billion in the previous session.
Out of 336 futures-market companies, 11 recorded gains, 325 declined, while none remained unchanged.
