QUETTA, Feb 23 (APP):Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC), in partnership with Islamic Relief Pakistan (IRP), has successfully concluded the distribution of Ramazan Food Packs to vulnerable households residing in villages surrounding the Reko Diq project.
The distribution drive was formally launched on 21 February and completed on Monday.
According to a press release issued here on Monday, a total of 600 households, benefiting an estimated 5,518 individuals, received food assistance through this joint initiative.
Beneficiaries were identified through a transparent, needs-based assessment that prioritized widows, elderly individuals, people with disabilities, and economically vulnerable families.
The food packs were distributed across 19 villages in Tehsil Nokkundi, including: Humai, Nokchah, Mashkichah, Tuzgi, Durban Chah, Bedok, Kachao, Kirtika, Lashkriab, Tankachao, Sarzai, Miskam, Amalap, Wadian, Rajay, Brahuk, Essa Tahir, Panyam, and Gwalistop.
Before the launch of the distribution, a coordination meeting was held between Mr. Asif Ali Shirazi, Country Director of Islamic Relief Pakistan, and Mr Ryan Mitchell, General Manager of RDMC, to review implementation plans and discuss opportunities for future collaboration.
Mr Mitchell noted that the company’s community investment programs and local employment initiatives are designed to deliver meaningful, long-term impact across the areas it serves.
He emphasized that RDMC considers itself an integral part of the local communities, stating, “This initiative embodies the spirit of Ramadan by fostering compassion, generosity, and support for those in need.”
He further expressed his sincere appreciation to Islamic Relief Pakistan for its valued partnership with RDMC in promoting community wellbeing and responsible corporate engagement through this initiative.
Islamic Relief Pakistan’s Country Director, Mr. Asif Ali Shirazi, highlighted the purpose of the drive, noting,“This campaign is designed to ease food insecurity during the holy month of Ramazan and enable deserving families to observe the month with dignity and stability.
He said that we appreciate RDMC’s continued support and valued collaboration.” This initiative aligns with RDMC’s broader objective of building long-term, trust-based partnerships with stakeholders, grounded in respect, transparency, and shared benefit.
