ATTOCK , Feb 23 (APP):On the special directions of Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a crackdown is underway in the district from February 19 to control prices of essential commodities and eliminate profiteering.
Under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Rao Atif Raza, price control magistrates carried out a total of 4,857 inspections across the district, the official sources said on Monday.
As a result of violations, fines were imposed on 103 individuals and an amount of Rs 506,000 was recovered.
On serious violations, one case was registered, three shops were sealed and 46 persons were arrested.
Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza said that providing relief to the public was the district administration’s top priority and overcharging would not be tolerated.
He directed price control magistrates to ensure their field presence and strictly enforce the official price list.
