ISLAMABAD, Feb 23 (APP):Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry reaffirmed Pakistan’s uncompromising stance on national security, saying the country would not tolerate cross border militancy or terrorist sanctuaries, as he confirmed targeted action against militants involved in attacks on Pakistani soil and urged the Afghan authorities to prevent the use of their territory against Pakistan.
Barrister said the people of Pakistan stood firmly with their armed forces in the fight against terrorism, stressing that Islamabad had consistently pursued dialogue and peaceful coexistence to ensure regional stability.
However, he warned that repeated proxy attacks originating from Afghan soil had left Pakistan with no option but to defend its sovereignty and citizens.
“Pakistan has always preferred peace, but when our security is threatened through proxy attacks, decisive action becomes unavoidable. National security is non-negotiable,” he said.
Barrister Danyal confirmed that a recent operation had successfully neutralised militants directly involved in violent attacks inside Pakistan, adding that the action was aimed solely at those responsible for terrorism.
He emphasised that every possible precaution is taken to protect civilians and innocent lives.
Referring to a United Nations report, the parliamentary secretary said militants from at least 21 countries are currently operating from Afghan territory, posing a serious threat to regional and international peace and stability.
He also accused India of continuing to support terrorist networks targeting Pakistan, alleging that such groups are being funded, trained and equipped to carry out cross-border attacks.
“Elements involved in sponsoring terrorism deserve no concessions and must be held accountable,” he said.
He urged the Afghan government to take concrete and verifiable steps to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries, warning that lasting peace in the region would remain elusive without decisive action against militant safe havens.
