MIRPUR ( AJK) , Feb 23 (APP):Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Minister for Finance and Inland Revenue Chaudhry Qasim Majeed Chaudhry has said that the launch of AJK POS Invoicing System, IRIS Modules, Tax Asan Mobile App and BI Revenue Dashboard was a revolutionary and historic step towards establishing modern digital governance in the state.
“The Inland Revenue Department in general and Commissioner Inland Revenue South Zone, Syed Ansar Ali in particular and his IT team deserve special congratulations”, the minister said while addressing the inauguration ceremony of AJK Tax Asaan Mobile App and BI Revenue Collection / IT Dashboard BI hosted by the Inland Revenue Department, Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, here .
The AJK government is committed to establishing a transparent, user-friendly and world-class tax system through effective use of technology”, the minister said, adding all digitalized initiatives were comprehensive, integrated and future-friendly development for the revenue system of the state,
The ceremony was also addressed by Secretary Inland Revenue and Chairman Central Board of Revenue Chaudhry Abdul Rehman, Commissioner Inland Revenue North Basil Siddique, Commissioner Inland Revenue South Syed Ansar Ali, President Chamber of Commerce and Industries Umar Shahzad Jaral, Deputy Director Faizullah, while the duties of stage secretary were performed by Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue Chaudhry Muhammad Mahmood Alam.
On this occasion, President, District Bar Association, Babar Ali Khan Advocate, Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue Syed Ali Asghar, members of Chamber of Commerce and Industries, industrialists, civil society, media representatives and officers and departmental officials from other districts of Inland Revenue were present.
A large number of staff participated in the ceremony.
Chaudhry Qasim Majeed said that the Inland Revenue Department was the highest revenue-collecting department of the Azad Kashmir government.
” This institution has been given a target of collecting Rs 85 billion in revenue this year. I hope the department will meet this target. We will strengthen this institution. POS has been installed in the South Zone while it is still pending in the North. The tax collection system should be uniform. When you expect too much from the state, then you should also pay taxes responsibly. No country can develop without clean and transparent tax collection,” he added.
He said that the steps taken by this institution for tax collection by introducing POS, AJK Tax Asan Mobile App and IB Revenue Tax Collection Dashboard in a short period of time were commendable, which was bringing further improvement and transparency in tax collection.
He further said that the government was taking practical steps to promote industrial development for economic and financial development in Azad Kashmir.
For this purpose, the establishment of Mirpur Dry Port is in the final stages. Azad Jammu and Kashmir Bank is also being made a scheduled bank. The government will fully encourage those who invest and set up industries in Azad Kashmir, steps are also being taken to revive sick industrial units. Economic development cannot be possible without industrial development. The government will take full care of the self-respect of industrialists, but no industry will be allowed to manufacture fake products and evade taxes. There will be no compromise on this. Industrialists who pay taxes regularly will not be harassed anywhere without reason.
President Mirpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Umar Shahzad Jaral, while addressing the ceremony, termed the digital reforms of the Inland Revenue Department as very positive and convenient for the business community and assured full cooperation.
