Inclusive education key to empowering special children

MULTAN, Feb 22 (APP):Education leaders stressed that quality training and inclusive learning could transform special
children into productive and self-reliant citizens, urging parents and society to play an active role in their development.
The remarks were made by District Education Officer (Special Education) Multan Zeeshan Ahmed, Principal Mian Muhammad Majid, and President of Young Pakistanis Organization Naeem Iqbal Naeem during a gathering at the Government Secondary School of Special Education for Hearing-Impaired Students, Khanewal.
Zeeshan Ahmed said parents should prioritize the education of special children and enroll them in institutions operating under the Punjab Special Education Department, where facilities such as free education, uniforms, pick-and-drop services, refreshments, and monthly stipends are provided.
Principal Mian Muhammad Majid emphasized that collective efforts are needed to ensure the welfare and empowerment of children with special needs, adding that proper education enables them to contribute positively to society.
The speakers observed that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was taking personal interest in the promotion of special education and the establishment of model autism centers across the province to enhance support systems for special children.
Naeem Iqbal Naeem said that significant improvements have been made in the special education sector and that children with special needs are being given due attention under the current government.
A large number of teachers and students attended the event, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening inclusive education in the region.
