PFA intensifies province-wide inspections of Nigehban Ramadan Iftar points

LAHORE, Feb 22 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has intensified monitoring and inspection of Nigehban Ramadan Iftar Dastarkhwans across the province to ensure the provision of safe, hygienic and quality food to the public during Ramazan.
According to a PFA spokesperson, inspection teams led by the Director General were conducting strict checks of food quality, cleanliness arrangements and compliance with food safety SOPs at various iftar points. In Lahore, four dastarkhwans were inspected, while two each were checked in Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan and Bahawalpur. Three were inspected in Rawalpindi, and one each in Sialkot, Gujrat and Wazirabad. Monitoring was also carried out in Mianwali, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, Okara, Dera Ghazi Khan and Layyah.
Divisional directors and district deputy directors visited the sites to review overall arrangements, including food preparation areas, storage conditions, water quality, hygiene standards and serving mechanisms. Officials ensured that all food items prepared for iftar were examined prior to distribution. In certain districts, deputy directors also joined citizens at the dastarkhwans to break their fast, expressing solidarity with the public.
PFA Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid said that special emphasis was being placed on maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, adding that food safety teams were actively present in the field to monitor both food points and Nigehban Dastarkhwans. He reiterated that strict implementation of modern food safety SOPs was being ensured and that a zero-tolerance policy had been adopted against substandard or unsafe food.
He added that the Nigehban Ramadan initiative represents a blend of welfare, relief and public service, and that no compromise would be made on food quality during the holy month. “Ensuring safe iftar, protecting public health and maintaining public trust remain our foremost priorities,” he added.
