ISLAMABAD, Feb 22 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police conducted eight grand search and combing operations during the past week, checking 1,340 individuals, as part of a large-scale crackdown against criminal elements and illegal residents, during which 86 suspects, including 20 Afghan nationals, were shifted to police stations for further verification.
An official told APP on Sunday that the operations were carried out on the special directions of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
He said lady police officials actively participated in the search operations, while senior officers briefed the teams prior to the operations.
During the search operations, police teams checked 1,340 individuals and 604 households. Police also inspected 10 hotels and 21 shops.
The official said that 428 motorcycles and 137 vehicles were checked during the campaign.
He said that 86 suspicious individuals, including 20 Afghan nationals, and 25 motorcycles were shifted to the relevant police stations for further legal proceedings.
The official said the operations were aimed at preventing crime and strengthening security across the federal capital.
