Minor domestic worker abuse case adjourned to March 14

ISLAMABAD, Feb 21 (APP): The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Saturday postponed proceedings in the case involving alleged abuse of a minor domestic worker, Rizwana, after the presiding judge was unavailable.
The delay stalled progress in a matter that has remained pending due to repeated non-appearance of prosecution witnesses.
The hearing was scheduled at the District and Sessions Courts in Islamabad, where the case could not move forward because Civil Judge Mubashir Hassan Chishti was not present. The court adjourned the hearing until March 14.
According to court records, the case relates to alleged violence against Rizwana, a minor employed as a domestic worker. The case was registered at Humak Police Station.
During the previous hearing, the court had issued arrest warrants for prosecution witnesses after they failed to appear. Despite repeated summons, the witnesses have not presented themselves before the court, affecting the pace of the trial.
The court had directed the prosecution to ensure the presence of its witnesses to proceed with the evidence stage. However, the continued absence led to the adjournment.
The matter will be taken up again on March 14, when the court is expected to review compliance with its earlier orders and decide the next course of action.
