Strict monitoring in place to provide consumers relief at Ramazan bazaars: commissioner

FAISALABAD, Feb 21 (APP): Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar visited Model Cart Bazaar in Batala Colony to review arrangements and said that strict monitoring had been ensured for providing consumers relief in Ramazan Bazaars and open market.
He inspected the availability, quality and pricing of fruits and vegetables and ordered price control magistrates to ensure the mandatory display of rate lists at all stalls.
He interacted with the consumers and inquired about prices of essential commodities to assess ground realities.
He directed for strict enforcement of official price lists and intensified monitoring to ensure maximum consumer relief during Ramadan.
He said that on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz, special measures are being implemented across Ramadan bazaars, general markets and model cart bazaars to provide maximum relief to the citizens during the holy month.
The entire administrative machinery would remain actively engaged in ensuring the sale of essential items at government-notified rates, he added.
He said that the district administration would deal profiteers with an iron hand and continue indiscriminate action against the elements involved in overcharging and creating artificial inflation.
Continuous field monitoring would also remain in place throughout Ramadan-ul-Mubarak to protect consumers’ interests and maintain price stability in markets, he added.
