ISLAMABAD, Feb 21 (APP):National Language Promotion Department (NLPD) and China Media Group (CMG) have jointly hosted a grand celebration of China’s Spring Festival in the federal capital, which received an overwhelming response from participants.
The prestigious ceremony was organized to mark the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival), China’s most ancient and significant traditional festival. Celebrated worldwide, the festival carries messages of hope, renewal, prosperity, and unity.
According to the Chinese lunar calendar, the current year marks the Year of the Horse — a symbol of determination, perseverance, vitality, and forward momentum in Chinese culture.
Federal Minister for the Board of Investment, Qaisar Ahmed Sheikh, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest, while the Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Romina Khurshid Alam, graced the event as the Guest of Honour.
Members of the Chinese and Pakistani communities participated in large numbers, reflecting the depth of mutual respect, trust, and friendship shared between the two nations.
In his address, Qaisar Ahmed Sheikh extended warm greetings to the Chinese people on the occasion of the Spring Festival. He observed that such celebrations strengthen cultural connectivity and reinforce the shared commitment to cooperation and inclusive growth. He emphasized that the Pakistan–China strategic partnership transcends economic collaboration and is firmly rooted in cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and a shared vision of prosperity.
Highlighting China’s remarkable development journey and its policy of high-level openness, the minister stated that initiatives promoting sustainable investment and regional connectivity are opening new avenues for Pakistan’s economic progress and expanding bilateral cooperation across diverse sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, Romina Khurshid Alam underscored that China’s deep respect for its cultural heritage is a key driver of its national strength and global standing. Referring to the Global Development Initiative, she described it as a forward-looking framework aimed at advancing sustainable development, climate resilience, and inclusive international cooperation. She reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with China, particularly in environmental protection and sustainable development.
Director General of the National Language Promotion Department, Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, highlighted various phases of China’s sustained progress and elaborated on the importance of Pakistan–China strategic cooperation. He described Chinese President Xi Jinping’s vision of cultural harmony and shared development as highly relevant in today’s interconnected world, emphasizing that exchanges in language, culture, and knowledge continue to bring the peoples of the two countries closer together.
The ceremony featured captivating performances of traditional Chinese music, dance, and fine arts. Children impressed the audience with dynamic martial arts demonstrations, showcasing discipline and skill. Selected highlights from CMG’s internationally acclaimed “Spring Festival Gala” were also screened, offering participants a glimpse into the richness, creativity, and technological innovation of contemporary Chinese cultural productions.
The event concluded with a renewed pledge to further strengthen the enduring Pakistan–China friendship and deepen cooperation across cultural, economic, and developmental spheres.
The celebration served as a vibrant symbol of cultural harmony and further reinforced the time-tested friendship and growing people-to-people ties between Pakistan and China.
