PESHAWAR, Feb 20 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Friday assured full cooperation for the promotion of tourism and attracting investment in the province, saying that KP possesses immense potential in natural beauty, historical heritage and cultural diversity.
He expressed these views during a meeting with Managing Director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), Aftab ur Rehman, at the Governor House.
During the meeting, the Governor was given a detailed briefing on the objectives and performance of PTDC, including its tourism vision, promotion and publicity programmes across the country.
He was also informed about the launch of tourism and hospitality services under the “Salam Pakistan” brand, as well as upcoming tourism symposiums, conferences, promotional activities, tourism investment conferences and expos, ASEAN-Pakistan Tourism Business Forum, Buddhist tourism conference and National Tourism Awards 2025.
The briefing further highlighted the National Tour Guides Programme for Chitral, Kalash and Naran, along with industrial-level training initiatives in hotel management and other tourism-related sectors aimed at enhancing youth capacity. Promotional winter sports events were also discussed.
The Governor was informed that 19 PTDC motels have been handed over to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Kundi said that the province offers vast opportunities in natural and religious tourism, adding that development of the tourism sector could help stabilise the economy and create employment opportunities for the youth.
He said every possible support would be extended for the promotion of tourism, attracting investment and projecting a positive image of the country at the international level.
He also stressed the need to ensure provision of basic facilities, improved infrastructure and effective security arrangements at tourist destinations to facilitate both domestic and foreign visitors.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of PTDC and said that effective coordination between the federation and provinces could further strengthen and activate the tourism sector in the country.
