ISLAMABAD, Feb 20 (APP): As the holy month of Ramazan started, the Islamabad district administration has completed security and management planning for Mosques, Imam Bargahs, and public places across the federal capital.
The preparations were reviewed during a meeting of the District Interfaith Harmony and Peace Committee, which brought together religious scholars from different schools of thought and senior district officials to ensure smooth arrangements during the month.
The meeting was chaired by Irfan Memon, while Islamabad Police were represented by Jawad Tariq. Senior officers from the district administration and police department were also present. The session focused on security planning, coordination, and community engagement during Ramazan.
Officials briefed participants on the overall security plan for Mosques and Imam Bargahs during Ramazan. Special attention was given to prayer timings, including Sehri, Iftar, and particularly Taraweeh prayers, when large numbers of worshippers gather. The administration informed the meeting that security arrangements for all Mosques and Imam Bargahs had been finalised according to different categories, keeping in view location, size, and expected footfall.
It was shared that additional police personnel will be deployed outside Mosques under these categories to manage crowds and maintain order. Volunteers from the community have also been engaged to support law enforcement agencies, especially during peak prayer hours. Their role will include guiding worshippers, managing entry and exit points, and assisting police where needed.
The meeting was told that close coordination among the district administration, police, and religious scholars will be ensured throughout Ramazan. A mechanism has been put in place to maintain regular contact so that any issue related to security, traffic, or management can be addressed without delay. Scholars were assured that their concerns would be taken seriously and acted upon.
Officials further informed that monitoring of Ramazan bazaars, community iftar arrangements, and other crowded locations will continue during the month. These places usually attract large gatherings, particularly in the evening hours, and special monitoring teams will remain active to prevent any untoward incident.
The use of surveillance technology was also discussed in detail. Important locations and Mosques will be monitored through the Safe City surveillance system as well as private CCTV cameras installed in surrounding areas. This monitoring will help authorities respond quickly to any situation and improve overall security coverage.
Religious scholars present at the meeting were invited to share their suggestions regarding mosque management and security during Ramazan. Each scholar was given the opportunity to speak, and their proposals were heard individually. The district administration assured full implementation of feasible suggestions related to mosque security, crowd control, and coordination with local communities.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the scholars to extend full cooperation to law enforcement agencies. He stressed that mutual coordination between the administration and religious leaders is essential to ensure a peaceful environment during Ramazan. He also highlighted the role of scholars in guiding worshippers to follow security instructions and cooperate with police and volunteers.
Police officials briefed the participants on deployment plans and explained how security personnel would be positioned at sensitive locations. They also shared details of communication channels that will remain active between mosque management committees and local police stations during Ramadan.
The meeting concluded with participants expressing confidence in the arrangements shared by the administration and police. Religious scholars were taken into confidence regarding security planning and other Ramadan-related matters, with assurances that coordination would continue throughout the month.
At the end of the session, a special prayer was offered for the safety of the country, public peace, and the blessings of Ramadan for the nation.
