NAWABSHAH, Feb 19 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, through a notification has fixed the prices of essential food items for the holy month of Ramazan to provide relief to public.
The prices were finalized after conducting a market survey and holding consultations with traders’ organizations and consumer associations.
According to notification, the prices of pulses have been fixed as follows: Mash pulse at Rs390 per kg, Moong washed (First) at Rs365, Moong (B) at Rs320, whole Moong at Rs285, Moong with peel at Rs330, Masoor (A) at Rs190, Masoor (B) at Rs175, whole Masoor at Rs175, Gram pulse (A) at Rs205 and Chhola (B) at Rs355 per kg. Among chickpeas, white chana 9mm will be sold at Rs360 per kg, 7mm at Rs205, large black chana at Rs185, small black chana at Rs175 and Sindh white chana at Rs195 per kg. Besan Taj A quality has been fixed at Rs240 per kg and Besan A quality at Rs205 per kg. For rice varieties, Super Kernel (A) new has been set at Rs310 per kg and old at Rs320, 1121 Kernel Special old at Rs320 and new at Rs310, 386 rice at Rs200, Super Kernel broken new at Rs200 and old at Rs220, Kainat Sela (A) at Rs260, Kainat Steam (A) at Rs340, broken Kainat at Rs180, Super Kernel Basmati (A) at Rs340, Basmati (B) at Rs320, IRRI-6 at Rs180, IRRI-9 at Rs120 and Ponia 1121 old at Rs260 per kg.
Spices prices have been fixed at whole red chili at Rs655 per kg, red chili powder at Rs685, ground coriander at Rs505, whole coriander at Rs405, Iranian white cumin No.1 at Rs1,235, mixed garam masala at Rs2,400 and chaat masala at Rs250 per kg. Meat prices have been set at Rs1,200 per kg for beef and veal, Rs800 for buffalo meat and Rs2,000 for mutton. Milk will be sold at Rs220 per kg and yogurt at Rs280 per kg. Fish prices have been fixed at Rs600 per kg for fish weighing more than two kilograms, Rs500 for less than two kilograms and Rs400 per kg for Thaila fish.
Among bakery items, flour (maida) has been set at Rs140 per kg, semolina at Rs135, pakoras at Rs500 per kg, potato samosa at Rs25 per piece, minced meat samosa at Rs30, vegetable roll at Rs25, chicken samosa at Rs40, chicken roll at Rs60 and feni at Rs500 per kg. Roti prices have been fixed at Rs10 for an 80-gram chapati, Rs15 for a 120-gram tandoori roti, Rs20 for a 130-gram plain naan and Rs25 for a 130-gram roghni naan.
The notification states that these prices will come into immediate effect. Sugar, fine flour, chakki flour, maida and semolina will be sold according to market rates. Packaged items such as tea, powdered milk, cooking oil, ghee, mineral water, juices, medicines, chemical seeds and cement will be sold at the printed prices on packs. Live poultry, meat, fruits, vegetables and eggs will be sold at daily rates fixed by the Market Committee.
Deputy Commissioner has directed traders to respect the sanctity of Ramazan and ensure the sale of essential commodities at notified rates while avoiding hoarding. He appealed public to purchase items at fixed prices and immediately report overcharging to the administration for legal action. Shopkeepers have also been strictly instructed to avoid sale of expired items, failing which fines will be imposed.
