Water Resources projects get NA panel nod

ISLAMABAD, Feb 18 (APP):National Assembly Standing Committee on Water Resources on Wednesday reviewed the progress of ongoing schemes under the Ministry of Water Resources and after detailed deliberations approved the projects reaffirming its support for their continuation.
A meeting of the Committee held under the chairmanship of Ahmad Atteeq Anwer, MNA, observed that any issues pertaining to the Left Bank Outfall Drain (LBOD) in Sindh must be addressed on a priority basis through close coordination between federal and provincial representatives.It stressed that such matters should be resolved amicably and without delay.
Moreover, the Committee recommended that comprehensive information regarding employees recruited under the Kachhi Canal Project, including their complete details and domicile status, be furnished to the Committee at the earliest opportunity. The Committee noted that this measure is essential to ensure transparency and accountability in recruitment practices.
In addition, the Committee recommended that a detailed briefing be provided on the Pat Feeder Canal Project, recognizing it as a federal initiative for the province of Balochistan.
The Committee underscored the importance of this project in addressing water resource challenges in the region and called for a full update on its progress, scope, and implementation strategy.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Mian Khan Bugti, Shamaila Rana, Syed Javed Ali Shah Jillani (via Zoom), Zulfiqar Ali Behan, and Shazia Marri. Federal Minister for Water Resources Mian Muhammad Mueen Wattoo, along with officials from the Ministry of Water Resources, also participated in the meeting.
