FUUAST launches Turkish language today

ISLAMABAD, Feb 18 (APP):The Federal Urdu University Islamabad (FUUAST), on Wednesday held first class of Turkish language in a move to not only enhance skills and expertise of students in multiple languages, but also to promote cultural understanding among students.
The initiative has been introduced by the Department of International Relations (IR) in collaboration Turkish Embassy.
According to details, initially two classes will be held every week. As, the regular sessions formally began on Wednesday, February 18. Dr Yusuf Ziya Ozen, an expert in Turkish language and literature is serving as the language instructor for the course. Students from various departments attended the first class with great enthusiasm.
Professor, lecturer and other staff members expressed satisfaction over the initiative and called it a positive step towards students career and future.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Faisal Javaid termed the introduction of Turkish language teaching at the university a positive and welcome development.
He said that students from the Department of IR, as well as other departments of the university, are benefiting from this valuable academic opportunity. He added that the Turkish language holds significant importance across the Middle East, Central Asia and many other regions of the world. Providing students in Islamabad with the chance to learn an internationally recognized cultural and scholarly language is indeed a remarkable opportunity.
Dr Faisal Javaid also expressed his gratitude to Vice Chancellor Dr. Zabta Khan Shinwari and Incharge Campus Dr. Saba Bashir for facilitating this initiative.
IR lecturer Saira Kazmi thanked the Turkish Embassy and the instructor for their support and cooperation. She described the launch of Turkish language classes as a reflection of Dr Faisal Javaid’s academic vision.
Students of the university welcomed the initiative and termed it a positive step toward enhancing their academic and professional exposure.
It is worth mentioning that more than one hundred students from different departments are expected to benefit from the two weekly classes.
