MULTAN, Feb 18 (APP):Federal Minister and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, Rana Qasim Noon, on Wednesday formally inaugurated water filtration plants in Basti Bangla, Mauza Gardezpur, Tehsil Shujaabad, to ensure the provision of clean and safe drinking water to local residents.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by local elders, social figures, officials of relevant departments, and a large number of citizens. Addressing the gathering, the minister said that providing clean and quality drinking water to the public is among the government’s top priorities. He added that the establishment of water filtration plants in rural areas will help control diseases caused by contaminated water and promote healthier living.
He described water as a great blessing and noted that the filtration plant will benefit the entire surrounding area, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, when access to safe drinking water becomes even more essential.
The minister also appreciated the support of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), paying tribute to its management, particularly the Managing Director, for their cooperation in completing the project.
He directed the concerned authorities to ensure regular maintenance of the filtration plants, timely replacement of filters, and transparent operations so that the facilities continue to provide effective services to the public for the long term.
Residents welcomed the installation of the filtration plants and termed it a much-needed initiative. They expressed gratitude to the government and the minister, stating that access to clean drinking water had long been a major issue and its resolution will bring significant relief and ease in daily life.
After the inauguration, the minister conducted a detailed inspection of the filtration facility and expressed satisfaction with the quality and standards of the services being provided.
