ANF arrests seven, seizes drugs worth Rs 9.5 mln in nationwide operations

RAWALPINDI, Feb 17 (APP):The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested seven suspects and seized more than 50 kg of narcotics worth over Rs 9.5 million in six operations carried out across several cities, an ANF spokesman said on Tuesday.
He said that 50.1 kg of drugs were recovered during the operations, which targeted smuggling networks operating through courier services, highways and urban localities.
In Lahore, 550 grams of cannabis were seized from a parcel arriving from the United States at a courier office on Mall Road. In Peshawar, enforcement teams recovered 9.6 kg of hashish and 5 kg of methamphetamine (ice) from a vehicle near a hotel on Ring Road, arresting two suspects.
In a separate operation near the Iqbal Shaheed Toll Plaza in Attock, 14.4 kg of hashish were recovered from a vehicle and three suspects were arrested. In Karachi, 1 kg of cannabis was seized from a suspect near Sohrab Goth, while in Mansehra, 350 grams of hashish were recovered from a suspect near a college.
In Gwadar district, ANF teams recovered 19.2 kg of methamphetamine from a house, the spokesman said.
Cases have been registered under the Narcotics Control Act, 1997, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other members of the smuggling networks, the ANF said.
