ITP’s ‘Uraan’ gives wings to Women’s mobility in Capital

ISLAMABAD, Feb 17 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has inaugurated the “ITP Uraan Scooty and Motor Riding School,” a dedicated initiative aimed at promoting safe and independent mobility for women.

A public relations officer told APP on Tuesday that Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi formally inaugurated the facility. The ceremony was attended by senior police officers, women enrolled in the training programme, and other participants.
IGP Rizvi told APP that the Uraan initiative would play a vital role in enhancing women’s confidence, driving skills, and overall safety on roads. He said the programme reflects Islamabad Police’s commitment to empowering women by enabling safe, independent, and dignified mobility.
The officer said the Uraan initiative is designed to provide structured training to women in car driving, motorcycle riding, and scooty handling, helping promote self-reliance. He said the programme represents an important step towards ensuring women’s safe movement in the federal capital.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Hamza Humayun stated that the riding school has been equipped with modern training arrangements aligned with international standards. He said the facility includes a dedicated driving track and practical training mechanisms to ensure effective skill development.
The CTO Hamzah further said that professional training will be delivered through qualified instructors, including women trainers, to provide a comfortable learning environment. He added that women completing the course will be issued formal certificates.
