ISLAMABAD, Feb 17 (APP):Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, who is in Dhaka to attend the oath taking ceremony of Prime Minister-Elect of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman, called on Chief Advisor of Bangladesh Professor Muhammad Yunus.
During the meeting, he congratulated Professor Yunus and people of Bangladesh on successful conduct of elections and thanked him for strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh across various spheres including trade, people to people contacts, revival of direct air connectivity, according to press release issued by Planning Ministry.
The Minister also apprised Prof. Yunus regarding the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships under Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor and noted that first batch of the awardees has already joined their respective universities in Pakistan.
Professor Muhammad Yunus appreciated the Initiative and hoped that academic, cultural and people to people exchanges will increase in the coming days.
He thanked the minister and while recalling his meetings with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan and Bangladesh share numerous affinities which provide a robust foundation to advance mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation.
