ISLAMABAD, Feb 15 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday appreciated the role of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) in promoting the ideology of Pakistan, strengthening the national narrative, and effectively countering fake news and anti-state propaganda.
He expressed these views during a meeting with DG PEMRA Islamabad Faqir Afzal Masoom and prominent businessman and social personality Umar Farooq, also known as Kashi Awan, at the Governor House Islamabad.
During the meeting, matters relating to PEMRA’s role and performance were discussed in detail. The participants exchanged views on media regulation, responsible journalism, and the challenges posed by misinformation in the digital age.
Governor Kundi underscored the importance of constructive engagement between regulatory authorities and media stakeholders to ensure ethical broadcasting and safeguard national interests.
He reaffirmed support for initiatives aimed at curbing fake news and promoting a positive image of Pakistan at national and international levels.
