Media freedom, promotion of independent journalism welfare of working journalist stands atop Govt. priorities: Rathore

MIRPUR (AJK), Feb 15 (APP): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister (PM) Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, has said that his government was committed to media freedom, promotion of independent journalism, and the welfare of working  journalist fraternity.
Faisal expresses these views while speaking to journalists during his visit to Central Press Club in the State metropolis where he was warmly received by the newly elected office-bearers.?
The PM, while stressing the need for responsible journalism, said that the government not only values constructive criticism but views healthy criticism as a cornerstone for good governance.?
He said that practical steps would be taken in collaboration with stakeholders to address the issues faced by journalist community.?
Rathore also hailed the media’s significant role in achieving sustainable development and building a prosperous state.
“The Central Press Club Muzaffarabad has always played a prominent role in strengthening democracy, democratic institutions, and press freedom”, he added. ?
?”The government will provide all possible facilities to local and foreign investors”, he said, adding that foreign investment was imperative for achieving development goals, and reducing growing unemployment in the state. ?
He further said that the government was taking serious measures to resolve public issues while practical steps are being taken to ensure the provision of basic necessities to the people. ?
On this occasion, the PM congratulated the newly elected President of the CPC Sohail Mughal, Secretary General Shehzad Lollabi, and other office-bearers and members of the executive body on their success.
