AIOU: 246 students get laptops

MULTAN, Feb 14 (APP):A total of 246 high-achieving students from five regions of South Punjab received laptops at a ceremony held at the regional campus of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) in Multan.
The laptops were distributed on merit and transparency criteria by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Nasir Mahmood, who said the initiative would help students meet modern educational requirements and strengthen digital learning opportunities.
Students from Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Vehari and Rahim Yar Khan regions benefited from the scheme. Senior university officials, including Director General Regional Services Dr. Malik Tauqeer Ahmad Khan, Dean Faculty of Sciences Professor Dr. Sher Muhammad, Registrar Major Raja Umar Younis, Director Student Affairs Syed Ghulam Kazim Ali, and Regional Director Multan Ghulam Hussain Khosa, attended the event along with students and faculty members.
Addressing the ceremony, the vice chancellor said more than 2,500 laptops out of a national allocation of 100,000 had been awarded to students of Allama Iqbal Open University, reflecting the institution’s strong academic performance among Pakistan’s universities. He maintained that the university had been delivering education through digital methods for decades and continues to lead in distance learning.
Director General Regional Services Dr Malik Tauqeer Ahmad Khan said the laptops would help students, particularly those living in remote areas, access modern educational resources and meet contemporary academic demands.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of laptops to students who qualified strictly on merit under the national scheme.
