ATC extends interim bail of PTI founder’s sisters, former ministers in May 9 cases

LAHORE, Feb 13 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday extended the interim bail of the PTI founder’s sisters and several former federal ministers in cases related to the May 9 incidents.
ATC Judge Arshad Javed heard the bail petitions in multiple cases, including the alleged burning of a Pakistan Muslim League (N) office.
Fawad Chaudhry appeared before the court as his interim bail period had expired. However, Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan, Asad Umar, and Azam Khan Swati did not appear. Their counsel filed applications seeking exemption from personal appearance for one hearing.
The lawyers informed the court that Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan were engaged in proceedings before a court in Islamabad, while Asad Umar was unable to travel from Karachi to Lahore.
The court accepted their one-time exemption requests and extended their interim bail until April 3.
In a related development, ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill extended the interim bail of Fawad Chaudhry until March 13.
The same court also extended the interim bail of Musarrat Jamshed Cheema and her husband Jamshed Iqbal Cheema until March 13. The court further directed authorities to complete the investigation in cases registered against Musarrat Cheema.
