CPDI organizes its inaugural National Summit of Fellowship champions

ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (APP):At the conclusion of the two-year Green Zameen Fellowship, the Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) here on Friday organized its inaugural National Summit of Fellowship champions.
The summit convened 101 Green Zameen champions, including 37 parliamentarians representing 10 political parties from the National Assembly and all four provincial assemblies, said a press release.
The event served as a platform to reflect on the Fellowship’s outcomes and to strengthen multi-stakeholder engagement on Pakistan’s energy transition and climate agenda.
The program featured four technical breakout sessions led by senior energy experts, focusing on Prosumer Regulation 2026, accelerating the uptake of electric vehicles, sustainable infrastructure development, and advancing energy transition for economic transformation.
A select group of parliamentarian champions shared perspectives informed by their participation in the Fellowship, including Ms. Kanwal Pervaiz Chaudhry (Parliamentary Secretary for Environment Protection and Climate Change, Punjab Assembly), Rehan Bandukda (Chairperson, Standing Committee on Energy, Sindh Assembly), Daud Shah Afridi (Chairperson, Standing Committee on Energy and Power Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly), Shariq Jamal (Vice President, Young Parliamentarians Forum, Sindh Assembly), and Dr. Shazia Sobia Aslam Soomro (Member, Standing Committee on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, National Assembly).
Certificates were awarded to the participants upon successful completion of the Green Zameen Fellowship, while resource persons were recognized with shields for their contributions to the program.
Mukhtar Ahmad Ali, Chief Executive Officer of CPDI, administered an oath to the Fellowship champions, reaffirming their commitment in advancing a just energy transition and climate mitigation efforts. In addition, the champions formally endorsed the Citizens’ Charter of Energy 2026 and beyond.
