Syedaal terms Global Conferences vital for promoting Pakistan’s positive image

ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (APP):Acting Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan Nasar on Friday described international conferences and workshops as effective platforms for projecting Pakistan’s positive image globally.
He expressed these views during a meeting with an international delegation participating in the Sixth International Workshop on Leadership and Stability.
Welcoming the delegation, the Acting Chairman briefed participants on the constitutional role of the Senate, parliamentary procedures, the legislative process, and the Upper House’s contribution to democratic stability.
He emphasised that meaningful global dialogue on leadership and stability is essential in the current international environment, which demands cooperation and collective wisdom.
The delegation comprised representatives from various countries, including members of the business and academic communities, think tanks, government and military officials, and media professionals.
Syedaal Khan Nasar underscored that such international engagements help highlight Pakistan’s constructive, responsible, and democratic role at the global level. “When policymakers, scholars, and experts from across the world visit Pakistan and observe its parliamentary system and democratic institutions, it strengthens the country’s positive global standing,” he said.
He reiterated that Pakistan is a peace-loving country committed to promoting dialogue, mutual respect, and constructive cooperation both regionally and internationally.
He added that intellectual and policy-oriented exchanges not only facilitate the sharing of ideas but also support confidence-building, stronger bilateral ties, and the formulation of effective strategies to address shared global challenges.
Highlighting parliamentary diplomacy, the Acting Chairman said Pakistan seeks positive partnerships with the international community, with Parliament playing a key role in advancing diplomatic engagement at the legislative level.
He added that emerging global challenges related to the economy, climate, and security require collaborative dialogue and collective insight.
Earlier, the Additional Secretary Senate gave a detailed briefing to the delegation on the powers and functions of the Upper House, stages of legislation, the role of standing committees, the election process of senators, and the Senate’s administrative structure.She also responded comprehensively to participants’ queries.
The delegation was later taken on a guided tour of the Senate Museum, where they were briefed on Pakistan’s parliamentary history, its evolution, and key legislative milestones. The visitors also observed live proceedings of the Senate session from the gallery, gaining firsthand insight into parliamentary traditions and procedures.
The Acting Chairman expressed hope that the visit would further strengthen Pakistan’s positive image and open new avenues for future cooperation. Members of the delegation appreciated the informative briefing and thanked the Senate Secretariat for its hospitality and guidance.
