CDA alleges misinformation by encroachment groups as Bari Imam operation continues

ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (APP): The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has alleged that groups involved in illegal encroachments are spreading misinformation and attempting to incite public sentiment as the authority continues its anti-encroachment operation in areas adjacent to Bari Imam.
According to a CDA statement issued on Friday, enforcement teams are carrying out coordinated action in Noor Bagh, Noor Pur Shahan and adjoining localities against what the authority described as longstanding illegal occupation of state land.
Officials said “hundreds of acres” of government land have so far been retrieved during the ongoing drive.
The authority maintained that the operation is confined strictly to state land as per official records and does not extend into the notified boundaries of the model village in the area.
CDA officials said this clarification had also been submitted before the relevant court.
The CDA further alleged that certain elements, with support from social and political figures, were attempting to mislead residents and create resistance against the operation by disseminating inaccurate information. The authority termed such actions “regrettable” and said a record of these developments was being compiled.
Meanwhile, tensions were reported during recent enforcement activity when some individuals allegedly resorted to stone-pelting.
The CDA said an assistant director leading the team came under attack twice during the week.
According to the authority, the officer helped move machinery operators to safety despite the disturbance and repeatedly sought police assistance.
The statement noted that delayed law-enforcement response exposed officials to potential risk, adding that authorities expected stronger security arrangements for field staff, particularly female officers engaged in enforcement duties.
Reiterating its position, the CDA said it respected demarcated residential limits, would not tolerate illegal occupation of public land, and would pursue all actions in accordance with legal requirements. It added that its stance would be defended before courts with documentary evidence.
Officials emphasised that safeguarding state land, ensuring the writ of the government, and protecting staff involved in field operations remained key priorities as the operation continues.
