LGH hosts Peritoneal Dialysis workshop; MoU signed to modernize renal care

LAHORE, Feb 13 (APP): Rapidly evolving medical technologies and emerging treatment trends are bringing new hope to patients suffering from kidney diseases, enabling young doctors to significantly enhance patient care and serve humanity more effectively.
These views were expressed by Principal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal while presiding over a one-day training workshop on peritoneal dialysis organized by the Department of Nephrology at (LGH) on Friday.
On the occasion, an important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Byonyks and KBB companies to promote collaboration in advanced dialysis machines and innovative techniques, aimed at modernizing renal care services.
Medical experts provided hands-on training to participants on the latest techniques of peritoneal dialysis — a procedure performed through the abdominal cavity instead of conventional blood-based dialysis. They emphasized that the initiative marks a significant step forward in medical education and will play a pivotal role in improving patients’ quality of life.
Head of Nephrology Prof Dr Abad-ur-Rehman noted that conventional dialysis is often exhausting and complicated for patients. However, modern peritoneal dialysis technology has made the procedure safer, simpler, and more accessible, enabling patients to benefit from treatment standards comparable to those available internationally.
Speaking to the media, Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal said that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister , revolutionary measures are being taken to ensure quality healthcare services at people’s doorsteps. He added that, in line with the Government of Punjab’s vision, state-of-the-art medical facilities are being ensured at LGH.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal distributed shields and certificates among participants and appreciated the professional efforts of Prof. Dr. Abad-ur-Rehman and his team for successfully organizing the training.
The workshop was attended by MS LGH Prof Dr Faryad Hussain, Prof Dr Abad-ur-Rehman, Dr Yasir Hussain, Dr Rosheena Anjum, Dr Qurrat-ul-Ain, Dr Sajid Iqbal, and a large number of postgraduate doctors from across the province.
